fresh supply of milk. I also
plan on making cheese and
expanding my goat milk
soap line. It's so cool now
to walk outside and hear the
rooster crowing, the hens
clucking and the goats
saying "maaaaaa". I am
very excited about my new
additions and can tell you
right now, I will be talking
about these babies for quite
some time. Keep checking
my site for new blog entries.

I was researching online for natural pest repellents and I found a great
website. www.thebeneficialinsectco.com
On this site you can order beneficial insects to control common pests! I
am completely against pesticides and I believe that they should never be
used, especially near food crops and livestock. I grow my garden
organically and my livestock have not and will not ever have harmful
pesticides on them or even near them. Pesticides are poison and I do
not wish to poison my animals.
There are many alternatives to pesticides. Natural beneficial insects for
fly and mosquito control is one. Flies are extreme pests and mosquitoes
can carry disease that can be passed on to you and/or your animals.
For flea and tick control feed your dog(s) and cat(s) garlic. Garlic is of
course very strong tasting and usually a dog or cat does not want a
mouth full of garlic so I've found it's best to chop fresh garlic and add it
to wet food, that way the pet thinks he/she is getting a treat.
Did you know that flea and tick medications that you put on the neck or
your pet is/can be very harmful to the animal? Many pets have died
from reactions to those expensive little tubes of liquid that so many
people carelessly drip onto their cat's or dog's neck every month.
Another natural alternative to this is Lemongrass essential oil. 100%
natural! Just drip a drop on your dog's neck and another drop on his
rump just before the base of his tail. DO NOT USE THIS ON A CAT!
With cats I would stick to chopped garlic. If you can't find Lemongrass
essential oil, feel free to contact me for pricing.
I have also found that chickens are great for controlling the tick
population and they supply you with wonderful fresh eggs. They are
also very entertaining and friendly if raised around humans from the
time they hatch.
Before you spray those pesticides on your plants, pets and livestock
stop and think about what you're doing to the environment and the
health of you and your animals.
